|Bye-Bye, Roy. :(

Well, after a week, I've come to face the facts...my life is WAY TOO HECTIC right now to properly train a show dog, and it's not fair to Roy to make him be all alone for so long each day. Roy is moving in with a good friend up in Vancouver, Canada...she works from home and has other Cresties. She will be able to spend all the cuddly-wuddly time she wants with the little dude. I'll really miss him, but on the other hand, I'm so happy that he's going somewhere he can get attention round the clock. My husband and I both work about 60 hours per week, which makes for a sad, bored doggy. :( |
I'm still leveraging my art career into a feasible full-time occupation, and once I have it going the way I like it, I'll be able to concentrate on just that and have all the damn dogs I can handle! For the next 12 - 24 months, however, it's dogless and showless for me. My pal said she'll hopefully be able to come to some local shows and let me handle Roy, though, so yay! And my breeder is all set to hook me up with another Specials-quality dog as soon as I feel I'm ready.
I know I'm making the right choice for Roy, but it sure sucks. :( He's such a fun dog! And I'm so bummed that I have to wait even longer to show. Alas. :'(
And no, the irony is not lost on me that I had to find a new home for my beloved whippet because I lost my job...and now I have to send Roy to his auntie's permanently because I work TOO MUCH!
Anyway, I'll still be active on all the groups and still dreaming of when I can get more doggies. My husband actually wants our next Crested for himself, while I'm going to go back to my original passion, Whippets (and maybe a Basenji) as soon as we have bought our house! so I do have MORE THAN ONE dog to look forward to in the future.
